Hessequa, Stilbaai Triathlon, 24 March 2012
 EVENT INFO OUTLINE
The categories will be open for females and men in seniors (21-40), vets (41+) and juniors (18-20).
 1.1. Race entries
• Entries can run via the 24-7 website and the website of the WPTA.
 1.2. Registration
• The registration must be in the race village the night before and it must be open for late entries only in year one (1).
 1.3. WPTA
• This event must be supported by the Western Province Triathlon Association
 1.4. Disciplines
 • 1.4.1. Swim (1500m with the outgoing tide in the river)
• The swimming will be 1500m, in the GOUKOU River with an outgoing tide.
It is LOWTIDE at 07H30, but the river is about 30-40 minutes “late”, so the swimmers will have a nice quick swim from the Jetty to the patch of sand at             the caravan park. The transition will be in RACE VILLAGE ON BEACH.
• The river is salt and a very safe option for the swimming leg. On the outgoing tide the river is shallow and the support of the NSRI will help
with the safety in the water. This is an ideal time of year with a warm and safe swim. The worst case scenario will be if the South Easter is
blowing very hard. There might be blue bottles in the water but an early morning swim at low tide will almost assure a problem free
experience.
 • 1.4.2. Bike (40km mountain bike and 40km roadbike …only 2013)
• There will be two options. Mountain biking (30km) and road biking (40km).  The mountain biking will go from the Ellensrust Caravan Park via
the Pauline Bohnen Reserve to Melkhoutfontein and back to Stilbaai,  towards the FINISHING Area and RACE VILLAGE.
 • The road biking  (only 2013)will also depart from Ellensrust Caravan Park and keep left over the bridge all the way to Jongensfontein and the
turning point in Melkhoutkruin and for a second round to Jongensfontein and back to Lapskuit for the transition to running.
• 1.4.3. Run (10km  of sand, gravel road, single track and tar road)
• The running will start and end at the RACE Village. Athletes will depart via the beach and over the BRIDGE onto the hiking trail and will end
from the Skulpiesbaai road via Huis Stilbaai to the finishing point in the RIVER MOUTH. This will give some opportunity for the inhabitants of
Huis Stilbaai to enjoy the day also.

2. RACE ROUTE
The RACE ROUTE is important for us. At 24-7 adventure we understand adventure, endurance racing and multi-sport. Our philosophy is not to design a route purely for the reason of racing. It MUST be spectacular, fun and adventurous! The race ends with a fun event over the river, NOT compromising the COPETITIVE side of the sport. A lot of effort is been put into the options of the route. Study the detail and come and join us on race day! Safety is of utmost importance for us, so you can be sure that we in Stilbaai will look after your safety.
3.   ACCOMMODATION
Please contact the local TOURISM offices for a list of overnight and camping facilities. You can stay for between R50p/p per night up to R1000p/p per night in Stilbaai. We can book it for you!
