Travel Tips: Outbound

SA citizens now require a Visa to enter the UK and Switzerland.

When making enquiries for travel bookings during the World Cup period, make sure of your facts and ask a travel agent for assistance in finding affordable flights, as rates are exorbitant during this time.

Ensure that your Passport is valid for a minimum of six (6) months at the time of your return journey, before you make travel plans or you will not be allowed exit/entry at any destination.

Arrange your travel Visa or multiple-entry Visa (Shengen) in advance.

Make sure you have good travel/medical insurance.

Confirm medical requirements of the host country when planning your trip i.e. Yellow Fever, Malaria inoculations etc.

Some airlines allow you to book your seat in advance – ask your travel agent.

Check luggage and hand luggage restrictions as it varies according to the airline. Lock and preferably shrink-wrap your luggage to deter theft.

Organise a travel pass, for e.g. the London Pass, Swiss Pass, in advance of your trip – it is cheaper and means a hassle-free time when you arrive at your destination. Always have some coins in the local currency available for trolleys, taxi fare and food & drinks at airport of departure and arrival.
