Jongensfontein

Jongensfontein (‘fountain of young men’) is the fastest-developing holiday resort along the coast of Hessequa and has an excellent selection of self-catering, B&Bs and guesthouses with panoramic views over the ocean.

Jongensfontein is 10km from Stilbaai and boasts magnificent scenery, beach, rock pools, surfing and fishing, and canopies of milkwood trees scattered across pristine dune veld. It is snuggled between the ocean and farmlands and as part of the World Heritage Site Cape Floral Kingdom, is rich in flora (Cape fynbos) and small fauna.

A magnificent setting along the coastline makes the local camp site and caravan park a very popular destination indeed. There are 115 caravan stands and 18 chalets and full ablution facilities.

Sport and recreation facilities include a coastal nature walk, Blombos Route, tennis and jukskei courts and a 9-hole golf course.

The waves at Jongensfontein are regarded as some of the best amongst surfers. Other watersports include fishing, swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving.

The "Fonteinhuisie" (‘fountain house’), circa 1940, was built using stones collected along the coastline and is an historical landmark that serves as a museum and local information centre.
